    Ukraine

One set of reports indicate the first Ukrainian badges were approved during the transition from the USSR to independent Ukraine in 1991 – 1992. These badges were manufactured in 1992, and were only in use for 6 to 7 months. These obsolete badges were used on combat uniforms: Gold for Officers, Silver for Warrant Officers, and Bronze for Other Ranks. On thel left are the reguler submarine issue and on the right are the engineering service issue. It is not beleived that these are actual badges that were in

    Submariner Gold UKR-01x

    Submarine Silver UKR-02x

    Submariner Bronze UKR-03x

    Engineering Gold UKR-04x

    Engineering Silver UKR-05x

     Engineering Bronze UKR-06x

(x denoting bogus or fake badge; see Caveats, Conventions and Glossary)

Officer (Gold) and Enlisted (Silver) new engineering service pins were reportedly issued in 2000. Again, these are beleived as not being real badges.

    2000 Engineering  Silver UKR-08x

A commmorative pin was issued in 2004 for 3 years of service.

In 2012, the  Foxtrot Class submarine (Project 641)  Zaporizhzhia was finally made ready for sea.  A crew and commanding offcer were assigned.   This badge was issued for the CO.

    UKR-10

The submarine had a very limited time operable and when the Russians invaded Crimea they also seized the boat on March 21, 2014. Captain Robert Shageyev was the CO and now serves in the Russian Navy, having given up on being part of the Ukranian Navy.

Several copies have been seen which are likely knockoffs. Here is one with no paint/enamel.

    UKR-10x

There is also a version of the badge with a wreath of unknwn origin (upper item below: UKR-11x).

The lower badge appears to be another copy of UKR-10.

Other reports (which appear valid) detail that the crew of the Zaporizhzhia wore arm patches in a background of navy blue/black for winter and white for summer.

In white for summer this would be: UKR-11cs

When more information is available it will appear here.

Indicated earlier badges are probably fakes and added cloth arm patch.
