This is the new web site for Worldwide Submarine Insignia. It is under redevelopment right now.
If this is your first time here or if you are doing research, the first place you will want to refer to are the pages with individual countries listed. You will find a lists of all current, former and potential future submarine operating countries and a link to pages for each country, with data in alphabetical order by country.
There are presently 40 countries that own and operate submarines. They are listed to the left. There are 15 other countries that previously operated submarines, listed below the current countries. There are a few countries considering new submarine capabilities.
The size of these submarine forces range from one unit to over one hundred. Many of these submariners wear insignia that signifies their association with submarines. Some insignia are automatically awarded while others must be earned through a year or more of study and hard work. There are a number of people interested in collecting these insignia, so I thought it would be useful to create an online reference that collectors can use to guide them. It began in geocities many years ago and moved to Yahoo when geocities went under. Some Angelfire pages also existed. Most of them are defunct, so I am resurrecting things here.
This page is dedicated to the men and women around the world who operate submarines. It is intended for use by collectors of submarine insignia. There has been a significant amount of research done by many collectors; this is by no means the ultimate in knowledge, but it is an attempt at putting as much of the accumulated knowledge together as possible. You can access the information on all the various countries in the Worldwide Submarine Insignia Information sections listed in alphabetical groups or related information pages above. If you have information to add or a correction to the data provided, please email me!
